Enrichment Clubs

Please note that some club dates are not consecutive and may present a scheduling conflict with other Ridgefield Academy after school events, trips, and athletics. Every attempt is made to prevent this from occurring, but in certain circumstances, it is unavoidable. Club money will not be refunded in the event of these scheduling conflicts. Parents are encouraged to check the school's calendar prior to filling out club registration forms. In addition, club refunds will only be granted up until the second club meeting date. Remember, parents are responsible for entering their child’s club dismissal details in the Patriot Portal. Teachers, staff, and bus coordinators will use this information to create dismissal and bus lists.

All questions regarding our enrichment clubs should be directed to Club Director, Donna Kauth by phone, 203.894.1800 x106 or by email,

Kempo Karate

Kempo Karate is an excellent activity to start at an early age. Martial arts help to develop focus, self-confidence, discipline, respect and benevolence for others. In a fun and controlled environment, participants will build motor skills by learning a series of punches, kicks and blocks. Throughout the course, important character building lessons are incorporated. Our focus will be on developing gross motor skills and self-control. Participants will have no physical contact during the sessions. All participants should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. A white Karate belt will be given to new participants at the start of program. Throughout the course of the program, all eligible students will be invited to earn their next colored belt at a belt rank testing ceremony, hosted at the Kempo Academy of Martial Arts in Cross River, NY.

Tiny Feet Soccer

Tiny Feet Soccer is an innovative sports and exercise program providing young children with the opportunity to learn through play and exploration in a fun, age-appropriate, and friendly environment. Tiny Feet Soccer program provides many opportunities for young children to spend most of their time engaged in free play — running, jumping, chasing, and kicking. Our priority is to ensure that children have fun while participating in playful exercises, games, and activities in a pressure-free atmosphere while they learn the basics of soccer.

Our program objectives are as follows:
  • To introduce young children to soccer in a safe, inclusive and non-competitive environment.
  • Show young children that sports and physical activity are fun.
  • Develop and enhance age-appropriate gross motor skills, coordination and correct posture.
  • Teach the importance of good sportsmanship and teamwork.

This unique program is an introduction to sports in a fun non-competitive environment. The concepts taught are basic, and time spent on each activity is limited in order to maintain the attention of the children. Emphasis is placed on the development of gross-motor skills, listening skills, learning to take turns and following directions. Some children at this age are more than ready to take part in a structured environment and will actively participate in each club session. As children gain confidence and learn our routines, their participation level will naturally increase.

Gourmet Globetrotters

A multi-cultural, interactive adventure through hands-on cooking, science, art, literature and language.  We will visit new countries and sample new recipes during the spring session.

Children board our imaginary airplane with passports in hand to explore a different country during each club session.  We locate our destination on the globe, prepare and taste the local cuisine and learn about the culture, customs and environment of our host country through books and related crafts.  We use a variety of kitchen tools including the standing mixer, rolling pins, the blender, a mortar and pestle and more to whip up a tasty treat each session.

At the beginning of the club, your child is provided with a "passport” to document our travels.  At the culmination of the session, your child will take home their passport along with a recipe book of the dishes we prepared during our travels.

Learn about cave ecosystems and go spelunking in Vietnam, explore the enchanted city of Venice, Italy, become a paleontologist and excavate fossils in Argentina, learn about the ancient Aztecs and their wondrous floating gardens and practice companion planting in Mexico.
